We're on update 16 as of March 2023

With quite a few Dragon Ball games coming out on a yearly basis (including mobile ones of mixed quality), it's easy to get confused on what actually came out recently. Part of that is due to the unyielding strength of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2: which came out in October of 2016, but is still getting free updates to this day, typically dealing with whatever is going on in DBZ related media at that time.
We're on update 16 somehow, which is coming out on March 23 on all platforms. The big focus of this update is Cell Max (from Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero): synergy! The below trailer showcases the Z fighters taking on the giant boss, while also detailing new costumes (including the Cell Max suit), skills, mascots, and loading screens.
Piccolo (Power Awakening form) is making it in as a playable character as well via the Hero of Justice Pack Set - Pack 2. That's "coming soon" and is separate from the free update on March 23 with all of the other aforementioned stuff. Yep, this game is super easy to follow!
