The Fleabag star could write for a new Lara Croft series

A new retelling of Lara Croft's tale could be on the way from an interesting angle. According to a new report, Phoebe Waller-Bridge has been picked up to work on a Tomb Raider TV series for Amazon.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Waller-Bridger is reportedly attached to write the scripts for the Tomb Raider project. She'd also be on as executive producer, alongside Ryan Andolina and Amanda Greenblatt. She is not, according to THR's report, currently signed on to star in the adaptation.
Waller-Bridge recently renewed a deal with Amazon, which also brought her onto the adaptation of the novel Sign Here by Claudia Lux. She's garnered acclaim for her work on the TV series Fleabag, is set to star in the upcoming Indiana Jones film, and co-wrote the Bond flick No Time to Die.
Meanwhile, Lara Croft has seen several adaptations over the years. The video game series has been turned into two different movie runs, one starring Angelina Jolie and the other Alicia Vikander. There's also an animated Lara Croft series on the way, with Hayley Atwell on as the voice of the Tomb Raider herself.

This adds to the growing number of video game adaptations currently out or in development. Amazon itself has a God of War show locked in for Prime Video, though not too many details are out on that just yet. Tomb Raider makes sense for Amazon though, seeing as its also working with Crystal Dynamics to help publish the next installment of the games.
The Last of Us is currently airing on HBO, and an Uncharted movie is already out. Plus, there are several other PlayStation productions in store, a Rainbow Six film on the way, and a Borderlands movie still in production.
There's no shortage of new video game adaptations on the horizon. But a Tomb Raider series from the creator behind Fleabag? I'm certainly interested to see how this one turns out.
