It looks like the upcoming open-world FPS Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is getting another delay (https://www.destructoid.com/s-t-a-l-k-e-r-2-delayed-to-2024/). Originally scheduled to be released in 2022, the shooter now has a tentative release date of September 5, 2024. According to a video by developer GSC Game World announcing the release date, this is the "final" release date.

Detailing the decision, GSC indicated that thousands of players got the opportunity to play Stalker 2 for the first time during Gamescom 2023. After some playtests, GSC felt the game needed a little more time on the technical side of things. Originally the team was dedicated to releasing Stalker 2 in early 2024, but certain technical issues have popped up triggering the new delay.

It's always a bummer when a game gets delayed, especially a highly anticipated one like Stalker 2. But with so much hype around this sequel, it's certainly important for the team to get things just right. The developers have also had a myriad of challenges (https://www.destructoid.com/s-t-a-l-k-e-r-2-devs-face-a-new-challenge-fire/) impacting the development process, so it's very understandable that the game has taken a bit longer than expected to release.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is now set to release on September 5, 2024 on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
