Add another video game adaptation to the list, y'all. According to a Twitter (X) post by the official Bendy account (https://twitter.com/Bendy/status/1739299966571470933), the horror game Bendy and the Ink Machine is gracing the silver screen. The film will be produced by Radar Pictures and Joey Drew Studios, who make the series.

No director or writers are attached at the moment, nor is there any mention of a release date or window. However, series creator theMeatly confirmed his involvement via Twitter (https://twitter.com/themeatly/status/1739309260255768749). In another tweet (https://twitter.com/themeatly/status/1739635861157707930), the creator mentioned that the project has been in the works for quite some time. With the official announcement out of the way, it seems like things might kick up speed in terms of production.

An Ink Feather In Their Cap

Bendy and the Ink Machine (https://www.destructoid.com/bendy-and-the-ink-machine-is-more-than-just-cheap-scares/), for those who don?t know, is an indie horror game about a killer cartoon character named, well, Bendy. It sports a unique style and garnered the attention of YouTube Lets-Players like Markiplier (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suFxAP-xnEI) and JackSepticEye (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Uyn-6_7d8Q). Its immense popularity spawned other entries, including the recent Bendy and the Dark Revival and console releases (https://www.destructoid.com/bendy-and-the-ink-machine-is-now-available-on-consoles/). And now, it's going to the big screen.

In 2020, John Wick creator Derek Kolstad revealed he pitched an idea (https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/john-wick-derek-kolstad-interview-video-games-tv-shows-pitch/) to adapt Bendy and the Ink Machine as a TV show, alongside My Friend Pedro (https://www.destructoid.com/my-friend-pedro-to-receive-tv-adaptation-from-john-wick-creator/). Though, he?s also officially attached to Streets of Rage (https://www.destructoid.com/streets-of-rage-movie-john-wick-lionsgate-film-adaptation-news/), Sifu (https://deadline.com/2022/12/story-kitchen-sloclap-sifu-1235187397/), Hitman (https://www.destructoid.com/theres-a-hitman-tv-series-in-the-works-from-john-wick-series-creator/), and Just Cause (https://www.destructoid.com/just-cause-movie-on-its-way-from-john-wick-creator/). Oh, and he's producing Toejam and Earl (https://www.destructoid.com/toejam-and-earl-movie-amazon-studios-film-retro-sega-genesis/) for Amazon and writing Splinter Cell (https://www.destructoid.com/splinter-cell-is-back-as-a-netflix-anime/) for Netflix. What's one more for him, huh?

If I had a dollar for every indie horror game film adaptation, I?d have three dollars, which isn't much but still surprising. Personally, I?ve only watched a bit of gameplay of Bendy and the Ink Machine. While it's not too different from other popular horror games of that time, it's unique enough to warrant some attention. The recent Five Nights at Freddy?s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VH9WCFV6XQ) film didn?t deliver on the scares, so all eyes are on this one and Markiplier?s decent-looking Iron Lung (https://www.destructoid.com/markiplier-posts-teaser-iron-lung-film-coming-to-theaters/) adaptation.

Bendy and the Ink Machine (https://www.joeydrewstudios.com/batim) and Bendy and the Dark Revival (https://www.joeydrewstudios.com/batdr) are both available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. A spinoff, Boris and the Dark Survival (https://www.joeydrewstudios.com/batds), is available on Steam. Furthermore, Bendy: The Cage (https://xtremenoobs.com/The Cage), is in development, alongside other Bendy-themed projects. Safe to say, fans of the series are eating (ink)well.
