Once-popular mobile title Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia is closing down its servers on February 29, 2024. Currently, it's uncertain if you can play the game offline or not, but it seems unlikely.

"To our loyal players, It is with deep regret that we inform you that Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia will end service on Feb. 29, 2024 UC," said Square Enix on the game's official Twitter page (https://twitter.com/DissidiaFFOO/status/1729711814836187442). "We would like to thank you for your many years of support, and hope you can enjoy playing for a little while longer."

There are still events coming up

Upcoming events are still occurring until that unfortunate date. The Cactuar Cacophony is still running from now until February 29. You'll also be getting the following:

Dare to Defy Astraeus (Now until February 29)

Dusk to Dawn: Evil Gazes at Dusk (Now until January 1)

Dare to Defy Nyx (January 1 to February 29)

Dusk to Dawn: Ogres Parade the Night (January 1 - February 1)

6th Anniversary Special 50+1 Draw (January 31 - February 29)

Dare to Defy Eos (February 1 -February 29)

Replies to this news are predictably disappointed in the closure. Several note how this was a well-received game (https://twitter.com/Zaine_Tatsuken/status/1729712300028809525), and still has potential (https://twitter.com/disisthancred/status/1729719357649850465) for more.

This is part of a string of Final Fantasy titles that have been pulled down from mobile devices. Battle royale Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier (https://www.destructoid.com/final-fantasy-vii-the-first-soldier-shut-down-service-january-2023-square-enix/) is also shutting down in January 2023, only lasting just over a year.

Square Enix also cancelled Mobius: Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy Record Keeper. With these closures, can't blame fans for considering stopping their investment in Square Enix mobile titles.

Despite so many shutdowns, Square Enix still plans to release Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link in 2024 (https://www.destructoid.com/all-notable-upcoming-2024-jrpgs/). It's also still supporting Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis (https://www.destructoid.com/reviews/review-final-fantasy-7-ever-crisis/), a game with gacha elements that retells the storyline of the VII series and its spin-offs.
