Larian Studios has posted on Twitter (https://x.com/larianstudios/status/1724835018793451957?s=20) that to reassure fans that the Xbox port of Baldur?s Gate 3 is still on track for a December release. However, the exact date won?t be revealed until The Game Awards on December 7.

Baldur?s Gate 3 was released on PC on August 3 and on PS5 on September 6 to tremendous acclaim. It is currently nominated for multiple awards at the show, including Game of the Year. Xbox exclusive gamers seem to be very eager to learn of a more solid release date because the upcoming Xbox release has been brought up by the developer multiple times, including a few days ago when they talked about the optimization breakthroughs (https://www.destructoid.com/baldurs-gate-3-xbox-series-s-optimization-benefits/) they made.

I?m also uncertain why the release date announcement is being held off until so late into the release window. It doesn?t leave a whole lot of time for people to start booking off work for it. Maybe it will stealth drop during the show, or perhaps it will drop on December 24, giving you more reason to ignore your family during the holidays.

I picked up Baldur?s Gate 3 on PC during Early Access, so this announcement isn?t for me. I don?t even own an Xbox Series console. However, if you?re an Xbox gamer, you can get hyped for the game?s impending release. It?s happening. Really. Larian wants you to know this.

Baldur?s Gate 3 is currently available for PC and PS5. It will launch on Xbox Series X|S consoles sometime in December. We?ll find out more during the Game Awards on December 7, 2023.
