Netmarble is working on an open-world action game based on The Seven Deadly Sins manga and anime, and it looks pretty ambitious if the latest trailer is any indication.

The new preview made its way online just ahead of the 2023 G-Star event, which will be held in Busan, South Korea, from November 16 to 19. As pointed out by Gematsu (https://www.gematsu.com/2023/11/the-seven-deadly-sins-origin-g-star-2023-trailer), Netmarble got in on the showcase with a video highlighting some of the Unreal Engine 5-powered combat and exploration. See how the world of Britannia looks in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin trailer below.

Apocalypse Soon

Based on the manga by Nakaba Suzuki, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin features a bunch of characters from both that and sequel series Four Knights of the Apocalypse. Tristan Liones, the son of original leads Melodias and Elizabeth, serves as the main protagonist. The visuals accompanying the game's open-world trappings look straight out of the anime adaptation, which includes multiple seasons and films.

This isn't the first journey into Britannia for the developers. Netmarble previously worked on mobile and PC outing The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, billed as a "cinematic anime game." I didn't personally play enough of that one to say for sure if it has a mine cart section or not. Origin, on the other hand, definitely has a mine cart section according to the new trailer. In a perfect world, it'll at least be better than 2018's dismal Knights of Britannia (https://www.destructoid.com/reviews/review-the-seven-deadly-sins-knights-of-britannia/).

The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin currently has its sights on consoles, PC, and mobile. There's no release date in place at the time of this writing, but hopefully we'll find out when to expect it soon.
