Genshin Impact (https://www.destructoid.com/tag/genshin-impact/)Version 4.2 is on the horizon, and with a new Version comes drip marketing for new characters. This time, we?re getting more details on Navia and the introduction of a brand-new character named Chevreuse!
Navia (https://twitter.com/GenshinImpact/status/1721467557558005996) was first introduced in the Fontaine teaser trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SbgmM3mSps) and has had a presence in the Fontaine Archon Quests. Now it appears she?s making the leap from NPC to playable character. She?s a Geo character with an Ousia Arkhe. From her presence in the teaser trailer, we can reasonably guess that she will be a 5-star character. Other than that though, her character introduction doesn?t include many new details. It looks like we?ll have to wait patiently for the leader of Spina di Rosula to become playable.
Chevreuse (https://twitter.com/GenshinImpact/status/1721468809410990229) is an entirely new character we?ve never seen before, possibly hinting that she?s a 4-star. She has a Pyro Vision, and we can just make out the top of an Ousia Vision shape in the background. She is the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol Captain of Fontaine?s police force, with what appears to be an unorthodox approach to law enforcement.

Are there guns in Genshin Impact?
Interestingly, Chevreuse is depicted holding a rifle. Firearms have been present (https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Fatui_Skirmisher_-_Pyroslinger_Bracer) in Genshin Impact, but never on a playable character, unless you count Clorinde shooting a pistol (https://youtu.be/9SbgmM3mSps?t=112) in the Fontaine teaser trailer. Does this mean Chevreuse will debut an entirely new weapon type in Genshin Impact? Probably not. It?s not uncommon for characters? art to show them wielding a different (https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Mika) weapon (https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Raiden_Shogun) from (https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Tartaglia) what they have in-game.
I think it?s more likely that Chevreuse will wield one of the five established categories of weapons. She might pull out her rifle as part of her attack animations, but her primary weapon will probably be something like a Bow, Sword, or Polearm. If there was going to be a new weapon type in Genshin Impact, I would expect more fanfare and an announcement ahead of time. Still, anything can happen in Genshin Impact, and if HoYoverse is consistent about one thing, it?s that they?re willing to break patterns and surprise us.
When are Navia and Chevreuse coming to Genshin Impact?
Navia and Chevreuse can be expected sometime during Version 4.3 of Genshin Impact. If things remain on schedule, we can expect Version 4.3 to drop around December 19.
