According to a post via Apple (https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2023/11/8-new-games-and-more-than-50-updates-coming-to-apple-arcade-this-holiday-season/), Sonic Dream Team is a new 3D action platformer that follows Sonic and the gang as they stop Doctor Eggman. This time, he has discovered a dream manifestation device called The Reverie. As Sonic or a host of playable friends, folks will navigate insane dreamscapes, rescue allies, and avoid Eggman's goal of world domination.

Despite the title being exclusive to Apple Arcade, Sonic Dream Team looks to be pretty fleshed out. We have our usual Tails, Amy, and Knuckles, but we also get Rouge the Bat and Cream the Rabbit (alongside Cheese the Chao). This will be Cream's first playable appearance in a main game since 2019's Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 (https://www.destructoid.com/reviews/review-mario-sonic-at-the-olympic-games-tokyo-2020/).

As for gameplay, it looks pretty similar to Sonic Lost World (https://www.destructoid.com/reviews/review-sonic-lost-world/), with players being able to navigate stages freely in 3D. However, it also looks to be open world to a degree, though how vast the world may be has yet to be seen. Boss battles are also present, as we see Sonic fight a giant enemy crab (not that one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbt5FF3g394)) and Tails battle a laser-shooting robot. Regardless, the worlds look vibrant and fun, which is typical for a series such as Sonic the Hedgehog.

A new animation is also shown in the trailer, sporting some impressive visuals. The studio that created the animation is Powerhouse Animation Studios. They have previously animated for the Sonic Frontiers Prologue: Divergence (https://www.destructoid.com/sonic-frontiers-prologue-divergence-knuckles-trailer-video/) short and the cinematics for Sonic Origins (https://www.destructoid.com/reviews/review-sonic-origins-ps4-ps5-switch-pc-xbox-one-series-x-s-compilation-remaster/). Outside of Sonic, Powerhouse is responsible for the Castlevania animated shows, most recently Castlevania: Nocturne.

Sonic Dream Team launches on Apple Arcade on December 5.
