Hold onto your subscriptions because Sony has revealed (https://blog.playstation.com/2023/10/11/playstation-plus-game-catalog-for-october-gotham-knights-disco-elysium-the-final-cut-the-dark-pictures-anthology-house-of-ashes/) the games coming to PlayStation Plus on October 17. This set involves a bunch of horror games, just in time for Hallowe?en. It's definitely not a bad mix, but the Classic Catalog line-up is anemic, as usual. On the other hand, I'm surprised by one particular game's inclusion.

Here are the titles joining Extra and Premium:
Alien: Isolation
Gotham Knights
House of Ashes
Outlast 2
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut
Dead Island: Definitive Edition
Elite Dangerous
Far: Changing Tides
Gungrave G.O.R.E.
Eldest Souls
Roki
Meanwhile, the Classic Catalog additions are as follows:
Tekken 6 (PS3)
Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny (PSP)
Ape Escape Academy (PSP)
I.Q. Final (PS1)
This certainly is a decent bunch of additions, but with the recent PlayStation Plus price hike (https://www.destructoid.com/playstation-plus-12-month-prices-are-increasing-for-all-tiers/#:~:text=Prices%20for%20the%201-month%20and%203-month%20subscriptions%20are,for%20Extra%2C%20and%2 0a%20%2440%20increase%20for%20Premium.), there?s no way I?ll be touching the Extra and Premium tiers. Even the Classic Catalog additions are better than the usual fare, with I.Q. Final being an especially interesting (https://www.destructoid.com/by-the-wayside-iq-intelligent-qube-ps1-retro/) addition. I can only hope that the PS1 and PSP titles are available piecemeal, which is never guaranteed with Sony.
As for new games, Alien: Isolation is one of my favorite horror games. Elite Dangerous is a rather robust space exploration game from a legendary series. Disco Elysium is one I haven?t gotten around to because I?m afraid it might be too depressing for my mindset. Meanwhile, I really don?t like Dead Island. Something for everyone.
These titles will be arriving for the various PlayStation Plus tier subscribers on October 17.
