One of the big releases of October is Remedy's Alan Wake 2. The first game was released in 2010, and since then, Wake has been a central part of the Remedy Connected Universe (https://www.destructoid.com/remedy-connected-universe-explained-ahead-of-alan-wake-2s-launch/) which is set to expand in his next game. According to Remedy, newcomers will be able to jump straight into the game, though there will be plenty of content to please returning fans.

Music played a big role in Alan Wake where Poets of the Fall is depicted as the fictional band Old Gods of Asgard. The music was used to help set the game's tone. In the upcoming game, the fictional band will be returning and it'll be played by Poets of the Fall once more.

Remedy has big plans for Alan Wake's 2 music

From trailers and promotional material, it is quite evident that Alan Wake 2 is a far more ambitious game than its predecessor (https://www.destructoid.com/alan-wake-2-sgf-2023-demo-impressions/). This time around, you'll have two protagonists to explore thanks to the arrival of FBI agent Saga Anderson.

The studio also has big plans for the upcoming game's music, though they're not quite ready to spill the beans yet regarding all of what's in store. It has been revealed that Poets of the Fall has recorded three new songs for the upcoming game.

In an interview with MP1st (https://mp1st.com/news/alan-wake-2-music-has-been-taken-to-the-next-level-expect-cool-stuff-done-with-it-according-to-remedy), game director Kyle Rowley discussed how music has always been an important part of Remedy's games. He claims that there's some cool stuff going on with Alan Wake 2's music and that the studio has taken things "to the next level."

This is certainly something to get excited over, especially because he also references the famed Ashtray Maze of Control where music and level design were used together brilliantly to create an unforgettable gaming moment. With Control, the aim was to "use music in interesting ways outside of just being music," and Rowley claims that this is also the case with Alan Wake 2. If the upcoming game can somehow top the highs of the Ashtray Maze, we're in for a good time.

You'll be able to pick up Alan Wake 2 on 27 October, a date it was delayed to in order to avoid plenty of other major releases this month. It'll be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
