Adhesive is a common resource in Starfield (https://www.destructoid.com/reviews/review-starfield/), and you are going to need a lot of it if you engage with the game's crafting systems and make yourself some great modded weapons and things for your outpost. Thankfully, there are lots of ways to get your hands on this stuff, although some are more efficient than others.

Where to get adhesive

Adhesives can be picked up from vendors or farmed from specific plants on certain planets. The latter one is tough, as it involves a lot of looking around to find suitable plants and planets. In the short term, it's the worst option, but it's not too bad in the long term if you invest in the right skills.

Buying adhesive from vendors

Vendors can all sell some pretty random stuff, but most of them will usually have one or two of most of the major items. There is a little trick to getting a lot of adhesive, however. Make your way to Titan in the Sol system. It's a moon of Saturn, and Sol is just a short distance from Alpha Centauri, your starting system.

Make your way to New Homestead on Titan. Land at the landing pad, then head inside and go down the stairs at the back of the entryway. You'll need to go past some guards and a couple of adjoining hallways to get at the end of the hall. You will find a door here that leads to New Homestead proper. Inside and on the left, you will see a white door and a sign for a store. Head inside, and you'll find a vendor called Jae Montreal. Chat with him and buy his entire Adhesive stock. On the other side of the room is a chair. Sit in that and use the Wait option to pass three hours, then talk to Jae again. The stock will be replenished, and you can buy more Adhesive.

There are, of course, other vendors that you can buy Adhesive from, but this is definitely one of the best ones and a very easy farming method for it. It should usually cost you 11 Credits per unit, but this can be lowered by investing in the Commerce skill. You won't make killer savings buying small items like this, but you will notice it a lot when buying ships and weapons.

You can also do this method on Gagarin, the planet we talk about below. Head to the main Gagarin Landing node, then go to Clint's Collectibles. You can get there by walking straight ahead from the landing pad and then turning to the right. Clint will sell plenty of Adhesive, and you can do the same time skip method by the bench just across from the front of his store.

Building an outpost on Gagarin

Gagarin is one of the most overlooked planets in Starfield, but it's very useful. Sitting on the far side of the Alpha Centauri system where you start the game, you can find a plant called the Sweetwater Cactus. You can farm these for the adhesives that you seek, and you can even do it in a smart way that ends up being pretty passive.

What you want to do is rank up your Botany skill on the Science tab. This will allow you to build a greenhouse at an Outpost that can then be used to grow the Sweetwater Cactus, as long as you scan that plant to 100% with your scanner.

Cheat using console commands

For PC players, you can break out the console commands if you really want to. With the right console command and resource ID (https://www.destructoid.com/all-resource-ids-in-starfield-resource-console-codes/), you can do just about anything on PC. First, you need the resource id for Adhesive, which is 000055B1. Then you need the correct console command, which is player.additem Resource ID Value. Using this, you can give yourself as much as you like. For example, player.additem 000055B1 100 would give you 100 of them, which seems like cheating.

That's because it is cheating, and even Bethesda thinks so. If you use console commands, then that will deactivate the achievements, so keep that in mind. To actually use them, you can just open the command console using the tilde key on your keyboard. You will usually find it directly below the escape key.

As we said, a lot of the things you can build in the game require varying amounts of Adhesive, so don't be afraid to put in the time to gather it all up or just speed farm it at a vendor. If you plan on going deep on crafting, it is unlikely you can have too much of it.
