Even though Starfield isn't out yet, there's been so much content and sneak previews for the game that some people are trying to piece it together ahead of schedule. For example, one person has decided to recreate an outpost styled after the upcoming sci-fi RPG in something other than Bethesda's in-house engine.
As spotted by DSO Gaming (https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/someone-has-already-created-a-starfield-outpost-in-unreal-engine-5/), YouTuber Ghost Design (https://www.youtube.com/@ghostdesign-ue4604) recently uploaded footage from an Unreal Engine 5 project they've been working on. Spanning seven minutes, the footage shows what a typical Starfield outpost looks like when rendered in this software.

Using the free "Mission to Minerva" pack, Ghost Design has created what is essentially a facsimile of something that looks like it could be from Starfield itself. Only it's done in Unreal rather than Creation Engine.
Imagine the whole game in UnrealUE5 is currently one of (if not the) most powerful accessible game engines in the world. It's also one of the most popular, more so by the fact that any developer, big or small, can make use of it. Conversely, Bethesda's Creation Engine is proprietary, so only Bethesda games get made with it.
While the use of Creation Engine for Starfield has likely drawn some criticism given how old it is, it's worth remembering that this is version 2.0. The studio has allegedly overhauled the software, bringing it more up-to-date, so games made it in should hopefully not have that Skyrim jank to them. From what we've all seen so far, it's fair to say that Starfield does look pretty. It's likely that official footage has been captured on PC using the most modern hardware around, so we'll see whether it looks as nice on a mid-range system or the Xbox Series S.
Starfield will be releasing on September 6 for Series X|S and PC.
