OF COURSE!Following on from the news earlier this week that Legendary Entertainment has acquired the film and TV rights (https://www.destructoid.com/street-fighter-legendary-entertainment-purchases-film-tv-rights/) to Street Fighter, Capcom has confirmed (https://twitter.com/StreetFighter/status/1643660498150227977?s=20) that a brand new movie is in the works at the Dune, Godzilla, and Jurassic World production studio.
Of course, there is basically nothing else to go on ? I'd be surprised if a script has even been rough drafted at this point ? but we can likely expect the picture to be a live-action affair, and to feature a relatively violent affair involving lots of punches, kicks, and spinning piledrivers... Well, Maybe not the last one. We'll see. Whether the events of the movie will focus on classic SF adventures, encompass modern characters such as Luke and Juri, or be some wild amalgamation of the universe is, for now, all up for speculation.

Capcom will no doubt be looking to at least match, (and hopefully surpass), the critical and financial bar raised by Warner Bros. 2021 release, Mortal Kombat (https://www.destructoid.com/mortal-kombat-2021-movie-sequel-in-the-works-news/). And given Hollywood's increasing lean towards "somewhat good" video game movies, SF fans will be hoping to see an authentic and exciting adventure that steps high above the poorly paced slog that is Street Fighter (1994) and the head-scratchingly off-brand Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009)
In the meantime, we can all concentrate on the upcoming launch of Street Fighter 6, a title that Capcom hopes will propel the legendary fighting franchise back to the forefront of the gaming scene. And given the initial response to the character roster, the new modes, and the hugely successful beta tests, Ryu and chums are gearing up to deliver a whole new era of entertainment for the 35-year-old franchise.
