The end is comingThe blessed occurrence of 3DS stability updates (https://www.destructoid.com/the-3ds-gets-a-small-stability-patch-today/) has struck again: as the system has just been patched this week (https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/231/~/system-menu-update-history#v11170).
Yes, its a stability update, which generally focuses on "minor adjustments" for the hardware: and have been known to address various exploits. This is the second stability update for the 3DS this year (we'll mention why it got an update in August in a moment), with one update apiece in 2021 and 2020, and two in 2019.
Sadly, as most of you know (most of you already know that I won't miss any chance to further eulogize the 3DS and WiiU), the 3DS, as an active platform, is set to die out on March 27, 2023 (https://www.destructoid.com/nintendo-to-end-eshop-purchases-on-wii-u-and-3ds-next-march/). As in ? the 3DS as a general platform ? since all eShop purchases will not be possible. The cutoff for the ability to add money to your account already passed on August 29, 2022. Some regions have already begun shutdown operations.
If you heard it here first, I'm sorry! Oh, and the Wii U is lumped into this entire scheme too. I hit you with the apology first to lull you into a false sense of security.
Anyway, here's the full patch notes from Nintendo for this round of 3DS stability updates:
Ver. 11.16.0-49U (September 12th, 2022)

Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.
