It's live on August 23A PC Death Stranding (https://www.destructoid.com/reviews/review-death-stranding/) Game Pass release is imminent, as 505 Games (the publisher for the PC version) has confirmed the launch this morning. It'll actually go live on August 23 at 5PM PT, at which point it'll be available on Xbox Game Pass for PC.
Here's 505's reasoning for the Game Pass arrival (https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2022/08/19/death-stranding-available-august-23-with-pc-game-pass/):
"To provide players with greater access to Hideo Kojima?s genre-defying title, in which they?ll reconnect a fractured America, one step at a time."
August 23 is also right on schedule for the Gamescom Opening Night Live ceremony, where it will likely be mentioned in passing as an announcement to fill time. For real though, this is another slam dunk Game Pass game. So many people are probably waiting on a deep discount, or some sort of miracle to try this oddity out, and now there's no real excuse so long as you have a PC that can run it and a Game Pass subscription (though I'm sure many of you will find a way!).
Weirdly, there will be Death Stranding Game Pass PC items, too:
Chiral Gold / Omnireflector ?Ludens Mask? Sunglasses (Color Variant)
Gold and Silver Power Skeleton
Gold and Silver All-Terrain Skeleton
Gold and Silver Armor Plate
