Take a look at the new Paldea region for Pokemon Scarlet and VioletToday, we got a new look at Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the next mainline entries in the series. Alongside a deeper dive into the people, places, and goals set out for prospective Pokemon Trainers, we also now have a full map of the Paldea region.
Paldea is the name of the new region for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, home to a variety of little monsters to discover. While we've had hints about the new region before, today we got a top-down view (https://scarletviolet.pokemon.com/en-us/news/the_paldea_region/) of the whole landmass.
Across the entire region we can see lakes, deserts, mountains and more. A port town resides on the right-hand side, while a large city sits in the center. Also, there's one big, cloudy region at the center.

It certainly seems like we won't be wanting for variety. There's a good mix of all kinds of different biomes here, so it should be easy enough to geo-locate some Pokemon of differing types.
Exploring the open world of PaldeaWhat's also different about this Pokemon entry and region is that Scarlet and Violet are open-world games. As confirmed in today's Pokemon Presents (https://www.destructoid.com/a-full-recap-of-the-august-2022-pokemon-presents-stream/), the new Pokemon games will allow players to tackle the three different story threads at their own pace.
So if you wind up catching some strong Fire Pokemon and feel bold, you can head right on over to the Ice Gym and challenge the newly revealed Gym Leader, Grusha.
